        On November 4 – 5, 2025, the Office of the National Security Council (NSC), in collaboration with the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) of Thailand, and the European Union (EU) under the ESIWA+ Project (Enhancing the EU’s Security Cooperation In and With Asia and the Indo-Pacific), organized a workshop titled “ASEAN-EU Workshop on Protecting Non-Profit Organisations from Abuse for Terrorism Financing” at the Grande Centre Point Surawong Hotel. Mr. Patai Sidisunthorn, Assistant Secretary-General of the National Security Council, delivered the opening remarks, along with the high-level representatives from the EU Delegation to Thailand, the Indonesian National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT), and the EU Global Facility on Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF). Approximately 60 participants from Thailand, the EU, and ASEAN member states attended the workshop.
        The event featured the presentations of best practices from ASEAN countries and group activities on preventing abuse of non-profit organizations (NPOs) as a tool for terrorism financing. In this regard, the NSC, as the coordinating agency with the ESIWA+ Project, affirm its readiness to further promote cooperation with the EU on countering terrorism financing and other security-related subjects in the future.
